Other important elements of the Croatian work plan for the education sector concern the negotiations about the new Erasmus+ programme generation (2021–2027), the continued development of the European Higher Education Area (including a political discussion on the further structuring of European Universities) as well as the new strategic framework for educational cooperation at the EU level, “ET2030”.

The Croatian work programme for Research and Innovation will be dominated by further negotiations on the future EU research programme Horizon Europe with the European Parliament. In addition, the Council is to discuss the framework conditions for researchers and future jobs in research.
