On 9 July, the results of the 2nd call for European Universities alliances were announced. German universities are successfully represented.
The available budget has been significantly increased to 287 million euros, so that another 24 alliances can be funded next to the 17 alliances selected from the first call. The approved alliances will be funded over three years, each supported with up to 5 million euros from the Erasmus+ budget and up to 2 million euros from the Horizon 2020 budget.
The selected projects involve 165 universities from 26 EU member states and and 5 further countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme (UK, Iceland, Norway, Turkey and Serbia). They have an average of 7 partners.
Out of the 62 applications submitted, 24 projects were selected. 20 German universities are involved as coordinators or partners in 18 networks.
