European Digital Education Hub
Mission and objectives
The European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) is a flagship initiative of the European Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027). It aims to bridge the gap between policy, research and practice in digital education by creating a shared European space for collaboration and exchange.
The Hub is implemeted by DAAD Brussels on behalf of the European Commission, in partnership with organisations from across Europe. Since its launch in June 2022, it has grown into a vibrant community of more than 7,000 members from over 140 countries, bringing together professionals from across the education and training sector — from early childhood education and schools to higher education, adult learning and lifelong learning.
What the Hub offers
The Hub is an online community for education professionals across Europe, offering:
- Community-led workshops, working groups and webinars on current developments and emerging topics in digital education
- Publications, policy insights and analyses
- Networking and peer-learning opportunities
- Discussion forums and mentoring programmes
One example is the revision of the Guidelines for Teachers and Educators on Tackling Disinformation and Promoting Digital Literacy through Education and Training, which was coordinated through the Hub with support from DAAD Brussels.
Another key part of the community is the EDEH Ambassadors Programme. Its network of ambassadors raises awareness of the Hub across Europe and helps connect education professionals across countries and sectors.

Focus areas and achievements
The Hub’s work is shaped by Europe’s priorities for digital education. Its main focus areas include:
- Artificial intelligence in education and its pedagogical and ethical implications
- The development, assessment and certification of digital competences
- Connected digital infrastructures for higher education
- Data governance, data protection and trust
- Inclusion and digital transformation
Key achievements include the Digital Education Accelerator Programme, which has supported around 87 projects, and the Higher Education Interoperability Framework, developed by one of the Hub’s working groups. The Hub has also published several mappings of digital education best practices from across Europe.
